Welcome to "All Things Brittany !"

"All things bright and beautiful, all things great and small, all things Brittany, the Lord God loves them all."
Our blog began 5 years ago while awaiting the birth of a litter of Brittany puppies. Early posts shared pregnancy confirmation, first movement of pups, whelping, development, weaning, and ongoing evaluations right up to the first day of the rest of their lives with their happy new owners. Eventually we discovered that a lot of people looked forward to the posts even when puppies were not involved. We then added more variety while keeping with the original purpose of the ATB blog, which is to provide updates about J&A's Brittanys in Acton, Maine. More photos and videos were posted in frequent, diary type journal entries. The writing became more transparent by sharing more openly about God, family, and the value of friendship. Blog posts now include personal stories, situations that challenge, thoughts about prayer, anectodes, and inspiration. Some may evoke joy and laughter while others share feelings of sadness and sorrow. ATB is "All Things Brittany" all things God, all things family, and all things friendship. All for the love of the dog, both given and received. And don't forget - the Brittany is first and foremost - a GUN DOG! Sincerely, John and Ann Short

ATB at York County Kennel Club 2011 Fall Match

Sunday, October 16th, 2011
Annual York County Kennel Club Fall Match
Finish Forward Dog Training Studio in Saco, Maine.

Congralations to Julie Harris and Thistle for winning:
Best of Breed
Puppy Sporting Group 1
Adult Sporting Group 4

Hemi was handled by Shania Hersey and together they were Best Opposite Sex to Thistle.  Although Thistle and Hemi were the only Brittanys there to represent the breed Miss Thistle (the pistol) after winning BOB then went on and competed in the Puppy Sporting Group with an Irish Setter, Golden Retriever, English Springer Spaniel, and a Black Lab - winning this class with style and attitude!  Thistle went on further to compete in the Adult Sporting Group, placing 4th out of 5!!
This makes two very successful showings for this now 5 month old brother and sister team out of Chevy and Pippin at Maine dog show matches and we're looking forward to the pups being old enough for actual dog shows!  Their field training is of course ongoing as well.

Congratulations also to Hemi's friend from handling classes,  a beautiful young Newfoundland pup who went home winning best of most everything at the show!  And a congratulations as well to Annie (Aussie) - who won a Group 1 handled by Shania's grandmother!
