What lies ahead?

I love this photo of Treasure taken yesterday. She is standing on the edge of a snowbank in the front yard, watching her mother and her brothers romp in the snow with Pippin, Chris, and Rose. They were all engaged in a serious game of "Keep Away" involving a frozen bath towel previously stolen by one of them in warmer weather. Typically, Treasure would have been smack dab in the middle of such antics, but that was not the case yesterday. For awhile, she ran and played but it was clear she was not comfortable. Treasure began to draw away until finally she was standing on the sidelines. I have photos of the rest of the crew romping and having a blast. But this photo really captures for me, the essence of the moment as Treasures whelping date approaches. I am sure every inch of her being wanted to be leader in the tug of war, running way ahead of the others - as only Treasure does - taunting, teasing, playing. Yet something deeper, more primal and instinctive is at work within this girl. If you look closely, you can see the widening that has occurred throughout her ribs, and see her abdomen slightly lower than is typical. Instincts, genetics, science and the mystery and reality of reproduction will guide Treasure from now on. We are blessed to share in this with her, and know that we are ultimately responsible for all that concerns her, under the watchful eye of God.

  1. Welcome back. Give Treasure a hug from Cooper and tell her a secret admirer will be saying doggy prayers for her. We will be saying our human ones. Hugs, Nancy

  3. We so believe in the power of prayer, and we believe all things happen for a reason too... No matter what, we remain thankful for the gift of friendship and God's mysterious ways of bringing us all together.
    Love
